A cannon removed from the office building stairs in the Foreign Office building has sparked outrage after it was used to deface the building’s exterior wall.
The cannon was removed from its location on the 12th floor of the building and taken to a police station for a criminal investigation, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.
“The cannon and its accessories were used to create a nuisance,” the ministry said.
“This is a violation of the law and will be punished according to law.”
The cannon is an old cannon dating back to the Second World War, which is used for training troops, and was used in the wars in Vietnam and Cambodia.
The Foreign Ministry added that the cannon will be taken to court to answer the charge.
In a statement, the ministry urged people to respect the dignity of all buildings.
“We urge you to exercise extreme caution when visiting buildings and buildings in general, especially foreign offices,” it said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the cannon has been removed from a staircase, which was used by the ministry staff, to ensure that it did not fall into the hands of thieves or criminals.
A security guard said the security guard was checking the stairs when he noticed the cannon.
“I noticed that the gun was missing from the stairs, so I started to check the area, which included the cannon,” the guard told the Associated Press news agency.
“When I saw that the stairs had been taken down, I realized that something had been defaced,” he said.
“When I went to the police station to report the incident, I was told that it had been the work of a foreigner and that the police were on their way,” the foreign ministry statement said.
It said the foreign minister had contacted the police to investigate.
