By Melissa Molloy, Bloomberg BloombergNew York – New York City’s skyline is undergoing a major transformation, with a new tower on the way to its tallest building in nearly two decades.
It’s the first time since the city’s 1906 earthquake that a new skyscraper has been built, and the city expects to see a number of other new skyscrapers constructed, including a new headquarters for New York City Transit.
New Yorkers will have to wait until 2021 to see their first skyscraper completed, but some of the work will be done.
The Empire State Building will be replaced with a luxury residential tower on Fifth Avenue, the first new skyscaper to be constructed in the nation’s most populous city since the Second World War.
The tower will be built by DLA Design, the same firm that designed the Lincoln Center.
Its completion was delayed twice.
The first time, in 2016, was to accommodate the construction of the World Trade Center, which was supposed to be completed in 2019.
DLA said in a statement that the city had been working with the company to complete the work before construction was complete.
Last year, the city approved a plan for the $1.4 billion tower to be built in the middle of Central Park, a move DLA defended.
“This proposal is consistent with the citys commitment to creating a new and modern landmark landmark that reflects New York’s legacy of extraordinary innovation, design and engineering,” DLA president Dan Goldman said in an email.
A spokeswoman for the city said the decision to proceed with the construction was based on a “firm commitment to ensuring that the project will meet all relevant environmental, historic and design requirements.”
The building is one of the city s tallest buildings, and is part of a larger development called the Empire State Plaza, which includes a residential tower, a convention center, offices, and a hotel.
The new tower is being built by the development firm that was behind the original Lincoln Center, DLA, and its owners, a group of investors led by billionaire industrialist J. P. Morgan.
Morgan owns the New York Yankees baseball team, and DLA also owns the Manhattan Nets basketball team.
